Universal Truths
"Writing is so good at what it does, being read, that we forget to look at the stuff itself. Writing captures our human motion, our human-being, as a still, clear image. The very time spent creating the movement is held in the written forms. My work started as an attempt to paint writing.
"Today will be spent writing the secrets of the universe. In order not to take an infinite time to write them down, I have developed a powerful notation which compresses many of the secrets into a reasonable size. Even so, it will take all day and I'll still have to erase old ones in order to fit new ones on the stall. Some of these secrets are especially dangerous and, for public safety, may have to destroyed as soon as they are written down.
"Much of my work is digital, using either a graphics table, a palm-top computer or an innovative version of photography with a flatbed scanner. Other forms range from tiny brush works on paper to building-sized murals. In each case subtle, human motion is caught in a still, dynamic image".
