Product of...

"For Flypitch, I transformed the stall into two parts: an intricate rococo Chinoiserie structure, created out of the cut-out images of fruit and food on boxes gathered from the market, and an internal exotic paradise garden, carved out of the actual foodstuffs transported in the boxes, which progressively rotted.

"Product of… was inspired by Luke Lightfoot’s Chinese Room at, the quintessentially English, Claydon House and Gauguin’s images of the exotic as idealised paradise. Reflecting global trade movements, the decorative presentation of goods in the market place and the Chinoiserie façade of exoticism, Product of… is an exaggerated and subverted paradise, created from the food and packaging gathered directly from the market in which the piece is shown".
